On Windows, we'll be using mIRC, a popular graphical IRC chat client.
IRC client setup instructions
- Download X-Chat for Windows from this link.
- Read through the material on Getting started with X-Chat. We'll practice using IRC in depth later in the day.
IRC client practice: joining the #pycon-practice channel
During this workshop, we'll practice using IRC and helping each other as we contribute to projects in the #pycon-practice channel on the Freenode network.
First, please launch X-Chat.
Then, to join the channel, scroll down in the Network list and find the Freenode network. Select it by clicking, then click Connect.
Once you connect, join the #pycon-practice channel and say hello!
